Bootcamping in the Capital
The final session of the first Film Business Bootcamp took place in London in October and was attended by a host of key industry figures.
Five final teams with feature film projects had one-to-one meetings with representative of international sales companies, financiers and agencies such as the BFI, Film London, Bankside Films, Bavaria Film Partners and Nyman Libson Paul among many others.
Maggie Ellis of Film London said that the Film Business Bootcamp was "... a great training initiative for the North East that I am sure will have an important impact on the participants and the development of their projects. There were some excellent presentations by talented and passionate filmmakers who through the course are already displaying an understanding and insight into the film business and the global market place."
This was confirmed by Kirsty Bell, Head of Film & Media at Nyman Libson Paul who remarked that,
"it was refreshing to find the participants displaying a keen understanding of the business side of film making and having a real perspective on the global film industry. Bright, bright, bright stars of the future. Definitely ones to watch. We want to be kept in the loop and involved in any way we can!"
Some of the Bootcampers have already began serious discussions with regard to the financing, sales and distribution of their projects and continue receive the guidance, support and advocacy of the Film Business Bootcamp.
